The Ranunculaceae are evolutionary primitive flowering plants and they do not have particularly sophisticated flowers or fruits. However, they have been very successful and are found in most habitats around the world. Some like Ranunculus repens are notorious weeds, but others, like Delphiniums are popular garden plants. One thing they have in common is that they are often highly poisonous, none are edible.
