This West African country is naturally blessed with a very rich, tropical flora thanks to abundant rainfall. Although much of the original rainforest has been degraded, national parks like Gola Rainforest still shelter giant trees, lianas, and rare forest orchids. The coastal areas are characterized by some of the tallest and most biodiverse mangrove forests in West Africa, which protect the shoreline and sustain a unique estuarine ecosystem.
