The Sparganiaceae is a monocotyledonous family of plants. It is a small family, consisting of roughly one (to two) dozen species in one genus, Sparganium. They are herbaceous aquatic plants, rhizomatous or sometimes floating, of ditches and edges of calm waters. The family occurs in temperate and arctic regions, mainly in the northern hemisphere, more rarely tropical.
